Lora Lonesberry, owner of Creating Occasions, has been a pastry chef for nearly 25 years and began her career in the big city of Toronto, Ontario. She then moved to beautiful Victoria where she spent the following 19 years working for the historic Fairmont Empress Hotel. Lora maintains her connection to the ever changing industry and culinary trends since leaving the Empress in 2009 by being a member of the Victoria branch of the Canadian Culinary Federation.
2006 saw the purchase of Creating Occasions, a specialty baking and chocolate supply store. Lora renovated it into a baking school for children and adult lessons as well as expanding the lines of baking equipment and specialty ingredients. Lora teaches almost all of the classes herself with the exception of guest Pastry Chef instructor, Ken Harper of the Vancouver Island University and guest Chef instructor, Steve Walker-Duncan who teaches the monthly savoury programs on Friday nights.
With training from top members of the culinary industry such as Nicholas Lodge, Collette Peters, Nicholas McCall and Laurent L'Huillier, she can extend her knowledge and experience to you from the simplistic to the finest detailed creation. An education in bio-chemistry also gives Lora the ability to assist you with your dietary substitutions.
We invite you to drop us line, email us, ask questions or sign up for hands on experience in one of the many classes! We look forward to "baking" a wonderful relationship with you!
